The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley (HCCLV) informs the public that it is receiving applications for medical plans offered through the health insurance company Aetna. Alvaro A. Diaz, Executive Director of The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley indicates that these plans are available to all of the Hispanic Chamber members at a lower cost than those offered by other national health insurance carriers operating in the Lehigh Valley and that an additional discount is also available to HCCLV members. This is just one of the ways that the Hispanic Chamber is helping reduce the operating costs of its affiliated businesses. Aetna is the lead sponsor of the program “Futuros Empresarios”, loosely translated “Future Entrepreneurs”, a program that helps Latino owned businesses achieve minority business certification and Latino students obtain summer internships. This program is being coordinated through the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of The Lehigh Valley. LEHIGH VALLEY, PA (July 21, 2008) – The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley (HCCLV) and Aetna invite all local and national media to attend a conference announcing the news of their unprecedented alliance and initiatives for the Hispanic Community in the Lehigh Valley at a press conference in Aetna’s Allentown Offices. The Alliance will benefit HCCLV members and help fulfill the Chamber’s mission of lowering costs and increasing revenues for its members by offering the area’s most comprehensive healthcare plan at the lowest cost for businesses in the Lehigh Valley. HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF LEHIGH VALLEY ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND NEW HOME

LEHIGH VALLEY, PA (July 16, 2008) – The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley (HCCLV) announces the appointment of Alvaro Diaz as its Executive Director. Mr. Diaz will work from the new HCCLV office at 462 Walnut Street in Allentown, located in the former Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce building, now owned by the Hispanic American Organization (HAO). HAO, a sponsor of the Hispanic Chamber, has agreed to share space with the HCCLV, given the common cultural objectives of the two organizations and their commitment to quality in their respective offerings.

“Hiring Alvaro Diaz as the Executive Director and opening our new office in a central location goes a long way toward achieving the board’s plan of building a Hispanic Business Development Center where our members can get the resources they need to succeed in the Lehigh Valley and beyond,” stated HCCLV Board Chair Lázaro Fuentes. “Hispanic businesses do not need more studies; they need practical solutions and benefits that will help them achieve the goals of increasing their revenues and lowering their expenses. Alvaro Diaz comes to the Chamber with more than 25 years experience in international business development. Most recently he was a consultant concentrating in the areas of sales and marketing of industrial products. He possesses extensive experience in global sales and sales management working with a variety of companies, including a 17-year tenure for Silberline Manufacturing Company of Tamaqua, PA. During this period he created the company’s international sales and marketing department, established company subsidiary operations in Singapore, Japan and Brazil and formulated and implemented strategies that led the company to unparalleled international business growth. A Fulbright Scholar from Universidad del Atlantico, Colombia, Mr. Diaz holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Mr. Diaz is very active in community and civic affairs serving or having served as a member of the board of directors of the Allentown Symphony, Hispanic American Organization, Roberto Clemente Charter School and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley. Mr. Diaz and his wife, Ari, have resided in Allentown, PA since 1982.
